ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Okies, and an announcement:

***MASQUERADE BALL***

It will be happening sometime in mid-October.  It will require formal-wear (or at least as formal as possible) and masks.  :)  I'm throwing mask-decorating parties throughout September so no worries there, but if you HAVE a mask, and if you have any kind of formal attire, BRING IT!!

There will be frequent jaunts to Goodwill and the Salvation Army, but nothing beats a free, borrowed prom-dress.  :)  If you have a couple, and have the room/don't mind bringing it, then please do!!  I personally will be bringing all 5 of mine.  ::grin::

***

Below are some idea, if you have any of this stuff please bring it.  Most likely someone will want to wear it if you don't.

Guy-wear:
tuxedos, sport-coats, dress-shirts, top hats, cumberbunds, suit-vests, ruffley-tuxedo shirts, nice handkerchiefs (for a pocket), poet-shirts, big hats (possibly with large feathers), neckties, ascot ties, spats, gloves (white, black, leather, etc), smoking jackets, a pocket watch, bowties, slacks, tail-coats, full-dress military uniform (don't forget  your sword  ::grin::), monacles, canes, etc.

Femme-wear:
pretty shoes, oldfashioned hats (poss. 1950s era --with netting, feathers, sequins, etc), jewlery, makeup, prom dresses, ballroom dresses, cocktail dresses, long gloves, short gloves, tiaras, boas,  fancy stockings, mink stoles/shawls, etc.

Misc:
cigarette holders, capes, wings, etc.

. . . all of it!!  Bring it if you've got it.  Bring extra if you've got it.

***

It doesn't matter what era/time-period it's from.  The point is to get creative and have fun with it.  If any womens want to show up in a tux, by all means, go ahead!  If any guys feel the need to show up in full Elizabethan gettup (stockings and all) go for it!  If you want to be a fairy prince/princess that's fine too.  Anything'll do.  Hopefully there will be lots of stuff to borrow so noone has to buy much/anything.

If you have any masks (not rubber, Halloween masks, but theater/Mardi Gras masks) bring them if you can.  If they're expensive or you're afraid that they'll get ruined then don't bother.  I'm going to order a gross of half-masks from Oriental Trading and we can decorate them to our heart's content.  Hopefully we'll make a ton, and that way, anyone who shows up without a mask will have one to use.

YAY!!!!

This should be fun, so spread the word!  I'm sending out an email to the BSFFA list, and posting it on BSFFA lj, if you have a better idea of how to get the word out, please let me know!  Or better yet, do it!  (Copy and paste, I don't care.)  I really want this to be fun, not painful, and the more stuff people bring, the more we have to borrow from each other and the less money needs to be spent.

Happy hunting!
